A filter press is a batch operation, fixed volume machine that separates liquids and solids using pressure filtration. The slurry is pumped into the filter press and dewatered under pressure.
A Filter Press consists of many plates and frames assembled alternately with the supports of a pair of rails or an overhead beam.

Filter Press Applications:
Filter presses are used in a variety of dewatering applications, including but not limited to:

Basically, if you have slurry that needs to be dewatered, you may need a filter press.

Filter Press Working Process:
The process of one batch filtration is: (pressing-feeding material-filtering-discharging cake)
1- Closing of the filter plates: when start the press button on the PLC control cabinet the moving head plates will be activated by the hydraulic calmps the plates.
2- Slurry Feeding: The sludge (or slurry) will be pumped into the chamber one by one. when all chamber is full of filter cakes, then the filtration is finished.
3- Filter Plates opening: The moving head is drawn back to disengage the first filtration chamber. The cake falls will drop from the plates because of gravity. The auto pulling system pulls out the plates one by one.
4- Washing: Usually for washing of clothes should be carried out every 15-100 batches.

Membrane Filter Press:

A membrane filter press is identical to a standard filter press except that the chambers have membranes to squeeze out excess water from the slurry.

How to select suitable filter press types?

Both plate and frame filter press and chamber filter press have two ways of filtrate flow, one is the so-called open delivery presses, where the filtrate from each individual filter press plate flows into an open channel, and the other is closed delivery filter presses where the filtrate is discharged into a closed channel, for example passing through the interior of the filter press.
To get avoid of corrosion in acid or alkali environment, we can add fiber glass or stainless steel coating for the filter press, the anti-corrosion perfermance turns out very good.
For some solution such as solvent etc which is toxic and flammable, this way it will need the cgr plates (sealed or closed filter plates ) and filtrate flow into pipes and being collected, also the plc and hydraulic system made explosion proof.This way, the filter press will be totally sealed and there will be no leakage of the filtrate at all.
Also we have the super high pressure, round filter plate which can bear 2.0 mpa filtering pressure, compared with the commin filter press, the filtering pressure is 0.6 mpa-0.8 mpa.This kind usually is requied in ceramic industry, marble/quartz stone industry, clay industry etc.
